Site design and tattoos PDF
Tuesday, 18 November 2008 14:54

I'm slowly starting to get my head around Joomla - the "Content management system" that this very site uses to display the very information your very eyes are reading right now (or your screen reading software is telling you about - I'm nothing if not aware of accessibility!). Yes, the main site is a template (see the link on the left to get your own) but it's given me a base to start from. I've now down the simnplest update of changing the images contained in the two top header images, and played with some of the modules to keep things swift and interactive.

So what's the image in the header all about? Well, it's a Dragon Koi, which represents a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, it is a combination of two things - the luck from the Koi fish (have a Google as to why, although this may well inspire me to write a decent explanation as to why the Koi is perceived as lucky, as there isn't many good articles out there) and the courage of the dragon. A dragon's courage doesn't come from biting into the nearest thing that annoys it, but the wisdom to know how to react in what circumstances and his courage to do the right thing when he could do the easy thing. It is almost certainly going to be my next tattoo. I've yet to find a Dragon Koi image which really gets my liver to quiver enough to base my tattoo design on, so if anyone knows any great artists or has stumbled across a great image, then I'd be very grateful to be made aware.

So there you have it - I've kind of inspired myself to write another article, and it looks like it'll be non fiction - why is the Koi fish lucky? Stay tuned...

So, I've joined "The Writers Bureau" PDF

In an attempt to channel my creative side even more, I have taken the plunge (after lots of research) and joined "The Writers Bureau" (http://www.writersbureau.com). I haven't received my learning pack through the post yet, but I've been impressed with the way they lay their course out. You see, whether I like to admit it or not, I'm a big fan of cash - as long as it's earnt legitimately and honestly, there is very little on this earth that brings the satisfaction of a hard earned tenner. The Writers Bureau not only encourages, but actually forces you to submit your assignments to various publishers and magazines, once they have passed (and are therefore of publishable quality). An outstanding idea, and I'm well aware that it'll be one hell of a motivator for me.

This web site will provide me with an opportunity to refine and practice my writing style, so expect to see random gibberings on just about everything to arrive here, for your delicatation and (possibly) delight. It'd be great to get some feedback from readers on the various articles I place up here, and in return I'll keep throwing up various short stories, poetry and non-fiction.

I'll let you know how I get on with the 30 modules and twenty assignments I have to do over the next few months!!!
